HEALTH & FITNESS

Food is medicine.

This has been true for thousands of years.

In today's world we are stressed and highly anxious almost every minute of every day.

Poor food choices results.

How to correct that when you live alone or don't really like to cook?

It takes one small healthier choice after another.  I know. I used to be so stressed while I was an executive I would not eat for sometimes 8 hours and then gorge.  I rarely ate fruit like apples or even good healthy vegetables.

Making good food choices and cooking healthy today is a fundamental part of my improved health.

My blog is about cooking food that is as fresh as it can be and that you can afford.  You will not hear me preach organic because it is so expensive.  If you buy it now that is great, but if you simply cannot afford to buy organic fruit and vegetables all the time simply wash well all your vegetables and fruit before eating or using in recipes and you will be a long way towards to a much safer food.

I believe in moderation and enjoying the foods you love.

I also believe in "whole" foods like

real butter, olive oils, heavy cream, whole milks and fresh nut butters, all kinds of fresh in season vegetables and fruits; especially blueberries.

A great pick-me-up that I do in the afternoon is a handful of fresh blueberries, with a splash of heavy cream topped with a pinch of sugar-in-the-raw.

Its delicious with just enough

sweet to satisfy.

There are several expert doctors today who advocate that Food is Medicine.  One doctor who I greatly admire is Dr. Mercola.  He advocates whole foods for great health.

The bottom line is if you want to change your health by your food choices - I recommend taking baby steps.

Start with breakfast and go from there.

Instant transformations do not work.

Start slow, be consistent and watch your overall health, stamina and mental clarity improve.

All my recipes can be modified to work for any health concern.  I myself have suffered significant health challenges and as I have indicated improving my diet has enhanced my everyday life.

For those who may have health challenges, exercise can be daunting.

It has been for me.  However, a little bit of effort can go a long way in improving your way of life.
